  • Michael C. Harris — WTF is Habari?

After the meeting, come have dinner with us at Maria's Trattoria! 122-124 Peel St.

Alec Clews — Collaboration with Git and GitHub

An introduction to Git and GitHub for people with limited exposure to Git or distributed version control. Covers basic features, workflows, distributed models, further resources and the use of GitHub as a hosting provider. 30Mins

Alec Clews is called alecthegeek on various social web site. He drinks lots of espresso and works as freelance consultant on software process and application lifecycle management. He first used Linux probably at patch 0.99p, founded the Greater London Linux User Group and organised the UK's 1st Linux conference.

Michael C. Harris — WTF is Habari?

WTF is Habari? A Swahili greeting? Blogging software? A South African media company? A CMS? This talk will provide answers to at least some of these questions; introducing the Habari software and project, and describing some of the project's philosophical underpinnings.

Michael C. Harris (the 'C' is important) is a PhD candidate in the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at RMIT University, proving that you don't have to be clever to enrol in a PhD. In fact it helps if you're not. In more fun times, he's michaeltwofish and a core committer on the Habari project.
