Linux MIDI Demonstration - Overview

To build up a complete MIDI system based on Linux requires both hardware and software. Any of the following possiblities: On the hardware side, you need:



MIDI system configurations (9942 bytes)

On the software side, you will need the OSS/Free kernel driver (distributed with the Linux kernel), and the application software.

Some applications come with built-in device-drivers, but the drivers are almost invariably for the Roland MPU-401. These will not work with the "uart-mode only" MPU-401 "compatible" ports on most soundcards.
