1. Perl is unreadable

Like most languages, Perl code is as readable as you make it. While Perl has the potential for amazing obfuscation, it can also be as clean as you like.

Perl 5 includes various methods to make your code more readable. For instance, the English module provides long names for special variables that were previously identified by short ``line noise'' names, and the new /x modifier for regular expressions allows whitespace and comments to be included inside the expression.
