Keysigning

If want keys signed, bring:

- slips of paper with key fingerprint (NOT just the keyid!) and the identities (email addresses) you want signed
- at least one (but preferably more) forms of photo id

Want Linux on your PC or laptop? Bring it along and our friendly installers will explain the process, provide a range of distributions and take you through the process step-by-step. All for free! But back up your data first....

University to hold computer fest

8 March 2007

The University of Ballarat's School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences will host its Second Linux Install Fest and Mini Conference on Saturday, 17 March.

As part of the day, people also are invited to bring their PCs or laptops to the conference, where free installation of Linux software will be available.

To be held at T Building in the Mt Helen Campus, the conference will be held from 9 am to 5 pm. A meeting of the Ballarat Linux Users Group (BLUG) will be held from 5 pm to 6 pm.

"The University is happy to support this community event," Professor Sid
Morris, Head of the School, said.

"This should be a very successful event and we expect it to be well-attended.

"Linux's Open Source is spreading across the world like wildfire."

Speakers at the conference will include Lev Lafayette, Matt Elvey, Murray McAllister, Donna Benjamin and Russell Coker.

The conference is hosted by Linux Users Victoria (Ballarat LUG) and co-organised with Linux Users Victoria (Melbourne LUG).

Participants are encouraged to back up the data on their computer before bringing it to the conference.
