What is a kernel module?
- A chunk of kernel code that can be loaded or unloaded on the
- Once loaded it is part of the running kernel and it can do
anything that kernel code can do.
- Created as part of the kernel compile but installed separately.
- The compile options for module code are slightly different from
code that is built into the kernel. This is handled by the kernel
